Tympanoplasty
Tympanoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to repair a perforated tympanic membrane and restore the integrity of the middle ear for improved hearing. The operation may also involve reconstruction of the ossicular chain if damaged by infection or trauma. Various graft materials, such as temporalis fascia, are commonly used to close the perforation. The procedure can be performed through a transcanal, endaural, or postauricular approach under local or general anesthesia. Tympanoplasty has a high success rate in restoring hearing and preventing recurrent middle ear infections.
